Meet SocialVegan #103 - Martina @martina_bin_healthcoach @eatfreshhk
.
After hearing about @eatfreshhk , I have seen Martina featured in various platforms e.g. the video of @wellness360hk featuring Martina 💫. I have also heard about how amazing a person she is from various sources before finally meeting her in-person at the @greenqueenhk market and we chatted briefly about the different products of @eatfreshhk . I could feel the passion💥 she has about promoting a plant-based diet and her venture @eatfreshhk is doing everything they can to make a plant-based diet 🌱more accessible in HK.
.
Like Martina, it was when cancer started to take people away from my life that I was truly awakened by the need to dive deeper, and this is a life-long project. Life is a work in progress itself, so is our #plantbased journey. With new researches coming up, new plant species even, new food products, there are always new things to learn and discover. Liberate your curiosity and embrace your learning process! Make yourself a better person each day and celebrate progress!✨
.
Thank you Martina for inspiring us!🙌

👀SocialVegan type
Cant’s say I’m vegan…labels are not my stuff, nor are diets! that said, I’ve been eating 90% vegan for 5 years at least, It has been a process of discoveries about what my body asks for and thrives with, and what it can so easily lives without! That 10% is made up of eggs (love them!), a bit of fish, even less cheese. So, work in progress :)
.
🌟Why became SocialVegan
For my own sake and for our planet’s sake! As a young adult I started to notice the effects of food on my general health and wanted to make wiser choices, but didn’t have the right information; when later on, diseases like cancer started to take away people from my life, I went full on studying how food can actually make a big difference to a person’s life and, collectively, to our planet.

The first thing about moving out for me is the search for fresh produce - fruits 🍎 and vegetables 🥦 alike! Having grown up in a family in the fruit business, I was so used to constantly having a variety of fruits at home! I started with just buying from local supermarkets and corner shops to farmers markets in the UK and in HK, and eventually to ordering directly or through online platforms from farmers in HK 👩🌾. Grocery haul is fun and something that I look forward to every week. Without a few handful of berries and a head of broccoli 🥦 and a few potatoes 🥔 and sweet potatoes 🍠 at home, my household isn't exactly complete.
.
I always appreciate those who are in the fresh produce business (including my family!) It is not easy to be in a business of perishables 🤷♀️. Being in the food industry, ethics is paramount. There are always ways to cut corners throughout the entire supply chain and we have to rely on the integrity of every player along the process to do their bit to keep us healthy 💪. Farm responsibly, refrain from using any harmful substances, reduce wastes and carbon footprint along the process, etc. Thank you Martina 🙏🏻 and the team behind Eat FRESH who have made a lot of efforts bringing organic fresh produce to us in HK and ensuring that the farmers behind the scene also receive a share of the credits by sharing some of their stories on their website. Thank you for being a source of inspiration for all of us 🙌🏽!
.
We will also be featuring the other brain behind Eat FRESH - Chiara @chiara.ghinolfi soon 🥳!
